Armenian Contract Soldier Found Dead With Gunshot Wounds to Head

Armenian contract serviceman Ivan D Hayrapetyan was found dead inside the passport control building of one of Defense Ministry's military units at around 10 pm on Thursday, Armenia's Investigative Committee reports. The soldier was reportedly found with perforating gunshot wounds to the right side of the mouth and the left side of the head, officials said, adding that Hayrapetyan had been contracted to the rapid response unit of the battalion for the November 17-18 period.

Law enforcement authorities have launched a criminal case under article 110.1 of Armenia's criminal code (abetment of suicide) which provides for a maximum of 3 years' imprisonment.
