Husik Kirakosyan, a 19-year-old conscript soldier of the Nagorno-Karabakh defense army, has again been sent to serve on the border despite his serious health problems. Speaking to Epress.am on Saturday, human rights defender Armine Sadikyan said that on April 19 the soldier was discharged from the hospital without having received proper medical treatment and sent back to his military unit in Jabrayil.Kirakosyan’s mother has informed Sadikyan that her son has constant abdominal pains, heartburn, as well as purulent pimples on his head which cause him almost unbearable headaches.
“On April 21, we appealed to the Armenian ministry of defense not to send Kirakosyan to the military unit until his health problems are resolved, and now we are waiting for a response. He has also been suffering from insomnia, but instead of finding and treating the causes in the hospital, the staff would complain that by being awake at night he was disturbing the other patients’ rest,” Sadikyan told our reporter.
The human rights defender has been provided with Kirakosyan’s medical examination results, which, according to her, do not fully correspond to the soldier’s current health state.
“The papers say that he has been diagnosed with exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, right-side purulent hemisinusitis, but there is no mention of his constant abdominal pains or the heartburn. Moreover, the military medical examination has found Kirakosyan fit-for-service with certain restrictions, which presumes that the disease is being treated and will soon be cured. This kid, however, has never received any treatment,” Sadikyan stated, adding that she intends to take the issue to court.
