Conscript Soldier Found Hanged in Armenian Village

Update: Armenia’s Investigative Committee has issued a statement to report that on the morning of August 13 conscript soldier Abas M Sloyan arbitrarily left his military unit and returned home to Hatsik village. He was later found dead hanging in a building next to a house on the village’s 14th street.

A criminal case has been issued into the incident under Article 110 of the Armenian Criminal Code (driving a person to suicide).

14:25 A conscript soldier of a Yazidi origin was found hanged near a house in the village of Hatsik in Armenia’s Shirak province.

Speaking to Epress.am, Hatsik village head Artur Matevosyan said the young man was a native of Hatsik: “He ran away [from the military unit] and returned to his village to hang himself near his house.”
