After his release from Artik penitentiary on May 27, imprisoned journalist, chief editor of local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”) Nikol Pashinyan went to Aleksandr Myasnikyan’s statue in central Yerevan to greet supporters and pay his respects to the victims of the events of Mar. 1–2, 2008, when law enforcement officials were called in to disperse mass unrest following a disputed presidential election that resulted in 10 deaths and many more injured.
