The opposition in Azerbaijan plans to hold its next anti-government rally in Baku on Jun. 19, reports Azernews.az.
The Public Chamber, an umbrella opposition group, decided on Friday to apply to the mayor’s office of Baku for permission to protest at a park in front of the Narimanov subway station.
The opposition group said that it would go ahead with the protest regardless of whether or not it is authorized.
The Public Chamber has held several unsanctioned protests in the past months. During the Apr. 2 protest held downtown Baku, 13 people were detained for two months pending trial as protesters clashed with riot police.
