Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan began on Sunday a three-day state visit to Moscow at the invitation of his counterpart, Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev.
The visit includes top-level negotiations in the Kremlin on Monday, as well as meetings with the country’s leaders. Besides, Sargsyan met with students and faculty of the M. Lovonosov Moscow State University. Afterwards, he visited the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and paid tribute by laying a wreath at the monument.
Later, the presidents of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation had a private meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace, which was followed by the extended negotiations with the participation of the official delegations, according to a statement on the Armenian president’s official website.
Following the meeting, the parties signed documents on cooperation in the areas of healthcare, youth politics, and the economy, as well as an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the humanitarian sector.
Political cooperation between the two countries is considered as strategic partnership and the political dialogue is at the high level. During Medvedev’s state visit to Armenia last August, the presidents confirmed continuing the strategic partnership and further developing bilateral relations, Itar-Tass news agency reports.
“Our peoples have historic, spiritual, social, economic and political ties,” Sargsyan said earlier. “Cooperation between our countries has reached the level of strategic partnership, and cooperation in the framework of the CSTO has further strengthened Armenia-Russia relations which are developing dynamically.”
