No More Twice Inspection Checks at Armenia-Georgia Border, Says Georgian Minister

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia told reporters Tuesday that the “one window” principle will be implemented at the checkpoint between Georgia and Armenia.

“For example, if a vehicle underwent an inspection on the Armenian side, there will be no need to stop it at the second checkpoint. The lengthy inspection procedures at checkpoints hamper the development of business and tourism,” she said.

Kobalia also noted that the trade turnover between Georgia and Armenia in the first 10 months of this year amounted to $238 million USD, which is 30% higher than the same period last year. Exports to Armenia totaled $185 million USD, reports Gruzya (“Georgia”) Online.
