Identity of Armenian National Detained in South Sudan Established

The identity of the citizen of Armenia detained by South Sudan’s special services has become known, said RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tigran Balayan.

Balayan noted, however, that due to ethical considerations the Armenian national’s name won’t be made public.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry is now attempting to make contact with the detainee and with South Sudanese authorities in order to ensure the detainee’s swift release.

Recall, the crew — which included the Armenian national — of Park Air Company of Sudan An-32 aircraft were arrested in South Sudan on Monday. No official reason for the arrests has yet been given.
