By a presidential decree, former Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan today was appointed Armenia's Ambassador to the US, reports the president's press office. With another presidential decree signed today, Tatum Margaryan was dismissed from his ambassadorial duties in the US.
Note, Tigran Sargsyan served as prime minister from April 2008 till April 2014. At least one opposition MP has called his government the "most scandalous" in Armenia's recent history.
According to findings by the Investigative Journalists' NGO (Hetq.am), Tigran Sargsyan's name was linked along with that of Ashot Sukiasyan and Archbishop Navasard Kjoyan to what has been referred to in the local press as the "offshore scandal". Sargsyan, however, claims he has no connection to an offshore company.
