A forensic medical examination showed that the week-old baby who died on February 7 in Yerevan's Muratsan hospital had sustained blunt cervical spine injury and brain swelling during the birthing process.
Speaking to Epress.am Thursday, the infant's father Makar Antonyan, a resident of the Aygestan village in Armenia's Ararat province, said he has filed a report with the Police to initiate a criminal investigation into his newborn son's death.
“I blame doctors for my baby's death; they have to be brought to justice to prevent similar incidents in the future,” Antonyan noted.
Recall, Makar Antonyan's wife, Sima Yeremyan, went into labor at the Artashat hospital on January 30. The baby, however, was born in a semi-suffocated stated and was immediately rushed to Yerevan's Muratsan medical center, where it subsequently died.
