Civic activist Vardges Gaspari, who was arrested February 19 for boycotting his case hearings, has been taken to a psychiatric hospital from a Yerevan prison, Gaspari's lawyer, Davit Gyurjyan, told Epress.am Wednesday.
The activist's wife, Gyurjyan said, learned about the activist's transfer to Yerevan's Nork psychiatric hospital when she went to visit her husband in the Nubarashen prison Wednesday morning.
The lawyer added that Vardges Gaspari has no mental health problems, and they intended to go to the hospital to find out the reasons for his transfer at the spot.
Note, a number of local human rights organizations issued a joint statement Tuesday to condemn the court's decision to arrest Gaspari, stating that the decision is unlawful and politically motivated.
