A number of Armenian citizens gathered Wednesday evening outside the presidential palace in Yerevan to express their solidarity with civic activist, political prisoner Vardges Gaspari.
In a move reminiscent of Gaspari’s preferred form of civil disobedience, the demonstrators lay down on the ground in front of the gates of the president’s office to condemn Gaspari’s arrest, as well as the recent reports of the activist having been subjected to torture and other forms of ill-treatment in prison.
Epress.am has learned that as many as a dozen protesters have been detained and taken to the Arabkir police station. Demonstrators and activists who've so far managed to avoid detention have taken to social media to urge more citizens to join the ongoing solidarity action.
