Head of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly of Vanadzor human rights organization, Artur Sakunts received an alarm that employees of “Ararat Cement” factory that belongs to Gagik Tsarukyan are commanded to participate in protests [against charges brought against Tsarukyan] otherwise they will be fired.
“They also informed us that some employees had to write resignation letters as they did not obey the order. This is an indication of violation of people’s right to peaceful assembly.
Especially in the context of huge health risks related to Coronavirus, we should refrain from actions that can potentially harm people’s health,” wrote Sakunts on his Facebook page.
The National Assembly of Armenia has stripped Gagik Tsarukyan of his parliamentary immunity and has endorsed Prosecutor General’s motion to arrest him. Tsarukyan’s arrest warrant is currently discussed by court.
