Armenia’s Independence Still in Diapers: Historian

In the Republic of Armenia’s 19 years of independence, the only significant victory we’ve acquired is the liberation of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), said historian Rafik Tadevosyan while speaking to journalists today.

According to him, independence can be seen from two perspectives: historical and purely human.

“Looking at it from a historical point of view, 19 years is too little [of a time period]: our independence is still a child, it’s in diapers. But when we look at it purely from a human point of view, we can make certain demands of the authorities regarding the activities of these 19 years,” said Tadevosyan, adding, that which other states can do in 8–9 years, we must do in 4–5 years, since Armenia is found in the vicinity of two neighboring states that want to devour it.
