Since nothing will change in Armenia through elections, it’s not possible to affect a change in government, so Sardarapat Movement member Jirayr Sefilyan proposes creating a possibly sincere, moral and resolute group of people, which will be outside of a political party format and will lead the Armenian people.
While meeting with journalists today, Sefilyan said that the century of political parties has passed and this is the only right way to move forward.
Furthermore, he noted that that group must submit a plan that stems from the people’s heart, and will present that project in such a way so as to receive the people’s trust.
“Then, work has to be carried out for mobilizing the people. And if the ruling authorities attempt to use force during peaceful demonstrations and rallies, then that group must have the courage to defend the people,” he said.
As for Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s role in the formation of this group, Sefilyan said, “Let’s not demand much from this man. He, returning to active politics, has already done a great thing, he has woken the people. I think that Levon Ter-Petrosyan can have his contribution in this, but now it’s our time to act.”
