Yerkir Media Won’t be Shut Down: Spartak Seyranyan

As a result of changes to the RA Law on TV and Radio, 22 TV stations currently on air will be cut down to 18. This means that 4 TV stations will have their licenses revoked, which of course begs the question: which TV station will have its license revoked?

At a press conference today, member of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D) Spartak Seyranyan and two editors of ARF-D publications were asked whether Yerkir Media, considered the ARF-D’s mouthpiece, would be one of the TV stations whose license would be revoked.

“We are principally against the closure of any media agency for subjective reasons, [and] political reasons. We don’t know the details now, but it would be desirable that all public expressions be reported,” said Los Angeles–based daily Asbarez Armenian Editor Apo Boghikian. 

Seyranyan, in turn, assured that Yerkir Media won’t be shut down and they are providing such services today which, according to the ARF-D member, the selection committee would hardly want to give up.
