“The Azerbaijani-Armenian community, being the successor to the Soviet Armenian heritage, in the near future, plans to appeal to Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR) with a request to transfer to us seven liberated territories, with the Lachin capital, with the aim of establishing an independent and sovereign Republic of Azerbaijani-Armenians, and to hold there free and democratic presidential and parliamentary elections,” said Assembly of Azerbaijani Armenians NGO President Grigory Ayvazyan at a press conference today, not excluding the possibility that the newly independent republic, through a referendum, might join the NKR or the Republic of Armenia.
“Here today we announce the indivertible beginning of the creation of the independent republic in the South Caucasus, in the region,” he said.
According to him, they are not asking for handouts; rather, they are asking to have transferred to them that which is lawfully theirs.
“The outcast Azerbaijani-Armenian community does not recognize and will never recognize the legitimacy of the upcoming Nov. 7 elections in Azerbaijan. Without the participation of the million-strong Azerbaijani-Armenian community in these elections in Azerbaijan, as since 1990, [the elections] are invalid and illegal,” he said.
