Beginning in 2011, the funding for Russia’s national defense will be 2.8% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of commanders with the country’s armed forces.
“In the next few years, beginning from this year through to 2020, annual funding for national defense will be 2.8% of the GDP. As a result of this program, we will ensure that the salaries of military personnel will be increased by almost three times,” he said.
