Russia is a country where any form of civil manifestation has been oppressed for years, where the opposition has almost been eradicated, where the television channels are all under the control of the authorities, as well as the rest of mass media; a country, which was, possibly, the first in the world to introduce a group of hired pro-government propagandists on the internet, said theater critic Ara Nedolyan, replying to Epress.am’s question about recent developments in Moscow where more than 1,000 people were detained following the clashes between Russian nationalists and ethnic minorities.
Nedolyan noted that man is a social being by nature, and when he has no possibility for self manifestation in a civilized and legal way, he inclines towards violence and mass disorders.
“I think that under conditions when there is a lack of political reforms and organized opposition such cases will increase and the authorities will soon be short of resources to keep control over them. And this could bring about another Kirghiz scenario for Russia. Only by restoring political and civil (first of all the right for freedom of speech) rights and freedom will it be possible for Russia to save itself and its citizens from future troubles,” he said.
