‘Go Away’: Officers Shoo Media as Yerevan Street Traders Continue to Protest

Once again Yerevan residents protesting the mayor’s ban on street trade came out to protest in front of city hall.

This is already the second week that a dozen or so traders have been demonstrating in front of the municipality building, asking the mayor to annul the decision to ban street trade.

Today, police were once again on scene, blocking off the area surrounding the building and not allowing demonstrators to approach the main entrance.

Officers declined to comment on their actions.

“Get away from here, this isn’t [any of] your business,” said one officer in response to an Epress.am correspondent’s request for comments.

At this time, demonstrators are gathering in the park across the street from the municipality.
