In Armenia, International Women’s Day on March 8 has become a “feeling of guilt” day: through flowers and gifts, it seems, women are being asked for forgiveness, said local artist Sona Abgaryan, speaking to Epress.am today.
“It’s as if a terrible incident happened with his wife and this is the day to visit the patient,” she explained.
March 8, in Abgaryan’s opinion, has to become a day of protecting the rights of the oppressed, “and gifts are not a hinderance at all: the more, the better.”
According to the artist, the day needs to be used to strengthen the struggle for human rights and against social injustice, which can be done through rallies, various campaigns, concerts, and parties.
