Pan-Armenian National Movement [HHSh] party leader Aram Manukyan, meeting with journalists today, said he’s in a good mood.
“I like what’s happening in Armenia; it is the result of our work. That’s why I’m in a good mood,” he said.
The party leader welcomed Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian’s “political manifestation, [his] bold move.”
“I can only welcome it, because those who don’t have a path with these authorities, but rather have proposals, we are adherent, I don’t see any problems; I really welcome the move, I support it. This was kind of a fast move, but let’s [agree], if he’s done this, let’s not discuss it. A hunger strike of indeterminate period is very radical and dangerous. Don’t think that I’m criticizing it, it’s good that he’s done it, it’s a bold move, it’s his right. But if there’s really a people’s movement, if he’s also supporting it, let him support it, what can I say,” he said.
Nevertheless, in Manukyan’s opinion, a hunger strike at this time is not the right form of struggle.
“Maybe it will mature three days later, I don’t know, but at this time I don’t consider… that for me. Raffi is the master of his decision,” he said.
The HHSh leader also noted that the Armenian National Congress owns neither the political field nor the Matenadaran (Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).
“There’s nowhere for us to say it’s only ours. We are simply a political force keeping pace with the people’s problems, desires and demands and we welcome all political forces that carry out similar activities, whoever they may be. And it doesn’t matter for us who is demanding these authorities’ resignation, who is fighting for the people’s rights,” he said.
