Moving a Mountain (2010) by local filmmaker Gor Baghdasaryan was awarded Best International Documentary at FiLUMS, the 5th annual LUMS film festival in Pakistan.
According to the Manana Youth Films website, despite being only 20 minutes long, the film was awarded the prize not in the short but in the long-form documentary category.
The film, produced by Manana Youth Films, took three months of shooting and two months of post-production and is the story of Asheer Akram, a young American sculptor, who came to Armenia as an artist-in residence last year.
Asheer was in Armenia for four months working on a huge metal sculpture that was then placed outside the Modern Art Museum of Armenia in Yerevan. His work embodied his impressions about Armenian culture, history, lifestyle, as well as his ideas about the country’s current situation.
“Quite a challenging task as this is Asheer’s first visit to this country,” reads the description on the Manana Youth Films website.
