Local artist Gor Yengoyan’s solo exhibit — titled “Contemporary Art is a Luxury in Armenia” — launched on May 8 at AJZ Space in Yerevan.
Yengoyan, speaking to Epress.am, said the exhibit doesn’t have a concept, and all images were created in a single day. The title and the entire exhibit, according to Yengoyan, is “an expression that came from irritation.”
“I work with and in contemporary art; however, being in contemporary art for a long time, I understood that it has remained rather limited in many manifestations: a slave to media; that is, media meaning a means, a tool,” said the artist.
