Member of Armenia’s National Assembly and notorious businessman Tigran Arzakantsyan is preparing to sue prominent local photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan. The MP said so himself in an interview to Yerkir.am.
“Some are interested in toying with my name; so a few journalists have made it their pocket weapons. They provide false information, they begin dirty PR surrounding my name,” he said, commenting on his attitude with traffic police during an incident yesterday.
Recall, photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan yesterday stated that outside the Armenia Marriott Hotel police had stopped Arzakantsyan’s BMW-740 and the Mistubishi Pajero accompanying him. Drivers of both cars weren’t wearing seat belts. According to media reports, when traffic police stopped the vehicles, the MP fled.
According to Arzakantsyan, however, no police officer approached him, nor did any officer stop him and speak to him, and he didn’t flee.
“No one would stand before me and say that such a thing took place — neither an agency employee nor a journalist; it’s false rumors. And the journalist will answer to this,” said the deputy.
Asked by the interviewee which journalist he’s referring to and what he plans to do, Arzakantsyan said he will take the issue to court and the journalist’s name is Gagik, but he can’t recall his last name.
“Perhaps you’re referring to Shamshyan?” prompted the interviewee.
“Yes, I told my lawyers; they’re working on it,” responded the MP.
