Protestors’ Ultimatum to President: ‘Meet with Us or Resign’ (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Organizer of a protest demanding Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's resignation Susanna Margaryan today refused to meet with Aida Asatryan, the head of the presidential department Reception of Citizens, Appeals, Complaints and Proposals Office. Instead, she and war veteran Arevhat Martirosyan entered the reception area and read their demands out loud, paramount of which is a meeting with the president or his resignation. Asatryan asked organizers to come with her to her office to talk, but they refused, repeating their demand and then joining the others protesting outside the presidential palace.

Note, the march from Liberty Square to 26 Baghramyan Avenue (the presidential palace) was stopped by police at the intersection of Baghramyan and Demirchyan. Police officers supervised by Yerevan Deputy Police Chief Valeriy Osipyan blocked the road to the presidential palace, asking protestors to cross to the other side of the street.

Margaryan, however, refused to obey the deputy police chief's order and insisted that they will continue to move forward on the same side of the street as the presidential palace. Marchers, however, were unable to bypass the police wall and were forced to cross the street, where they stood for approximately 2 hours, occasionally chanting "Serzhik, come out" and "Serzhik, coward, you are not a man".
