Two Other Imprisoned Activists Stop Their Hunger Strike

Liparit Petrosyan and Vahe Mkrtchyan, imprisoned activists who on Dec. 28 joined fellow detainee Shant Harutyunyan on his hunger strike, stopped their hunger strike two weeks later, on Jan. 11, a press spokesperson of the RA Ministry of Justice's penitentiary department informed Epress.am.

Four other political activists also imprisoned on Nov. 5 — Alek Poghosyan, Avetis Avetisyan, Albert Margaryan, and Misak Araqelyan — continue to refuse food.

Recall, Harutyunyan, who called for a revolution and initiated the Nov. 5 rally and march, stopped his hunger strike on Jan. 10 at the Hospital for Detainees where he had been taken after his health deteriorated.

Harutyunyan's supporters ask that the ban on family visits and phone calls be lifted.
