Liquidated Company’s Workers Protest Demanding Unpaid Debts

The Central Cleaning company was dissolved on December 1st, 2014, while the company’s 315 workers were informed about the news on December 20, however, until today the staff haven’t received a final settlement.

The workers have gathered in front of the Presidential Palace demanding final settlements ranging from 100,000 to 700,000 AMD. A former worker of the company and veteran Hayk Aghekyan told Epress.am that they do not wish to pay their final settlements; the municipality had promised to cover the final settlements until this January 20, however, it is already January 22.

Aghekyan noted that the responsibility of cleaning Yerevan’s Kentron (downtown) district now falls on an Asian company, which left them unemployed.

The head of the Presidential department Reception of Citizens, Appeals, Complaints and Proposals Office, Aida Asatryan told the protesters that the issue is related to the Yerevan municipality and that complaints should be sent there.

A municipality worker arrived at the protest and asked the demonstrators to stop the protest. He assured that the final settlements would be paid, but only after the process of the company’s liquidation is compled.

According to the municipality representative, the process will start at the municipality on February 10.
