An exchange of fire took place at around 2 am Tuesday between law enforcement officers and the armed men calling themselves the “Daredevils of Sasun” who’ve been occupying a Yerevan police headquarters for nearly ten days. As a result of the “provocative fire” opened by the police, two of the group’s members sustained injuries to their legs and were hospitalized, the official “Daredevils of Sasun” Facebook page reported Tuesday morning.
An official Police statement, for its part, claimed that law enforcement officers fired rounds towards the gunmen after the latter “closely approached” the police cordon in a car; the armed group, officials said, did not leave the fire unreturned. The Police statement confirmed that the injured gunmen – Ashot Petrosyan and Hovhannes Harutyunyan – were subsequently taken to a hospital.
