History and philosophy professor Hovhannes Khorikyan has ended his hunger strike following calls from students and friends. Nonetheless, Khorikyan told Epress.am today that he would continue to fight against Shirak State University rector Sahak Minasyan’s arbitrary actions and make sure that his concerns are addressed.
“The students began boycotting classes. I couldn’t let them continue,” Khorikyan added. The professor had gone on a hunger strike to “invite the attention of the public to the atrocities committed by rector Sahak Minasyan.”
Over the past days, the rector never tried to initiate a meeting the hunger-striking professor. Only once was he approached by deputy rector Anahit Farmanyan, who urged Khorikyan to think about his health and stop the strike.
