‘United States Suffers by Not Having Ambassador in Baku’: Musabekov

Azerbaijani political analyst Rasim Musabekov recently shared his thoughts on appointing Matthew Bryza as US Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

“It’s the United States’ decision who to appoint and who not to appoint ambassador. It’s the United States and that country’s interests that suffer in the first place by not having an ambassador in Baku,” said Musabekov in an interview with Azerbaijani news source 1news.az.

Musabekov also noted that why the US hadn’t appointed an ambassador until recently doesn’t matter to Azerbaijan.

“We have an ambassador in the US and we resolve our issues, while the United States doesn’t have that link in Azerbaijan. Bryza is a good candidate; he knows the region quite well. If, however, Bryza’s candidacy isn’t accepted, then this is testimony to US leaders’ weakness,” said Musabekov.
