Azerbaijan’s, Turkey’s, Kyrgyzstan’s and Kazakhstan’s foreign affairs ministers, Elmar Mammadyarov, Ahmet Davutoglu, Ruslan Kazakbaev and Kanat Saudabayev respectively, had an unofficial meeting on Thursday in the Turkish city of Bodrum, reports Azerbaijan’s Trend News Agency.
Recent events in Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan and energy issues were on the agenda.
During a joint press conference, Turkish FM Davutoglu expressed his hope that a permanent secretaryship/secretariate would be established during the summit of Turkic-speaking countries, set to take place in Istanbul this year.
Azerbaijani FM Mammadyarov, in turn, noted that he discussed the Karabakh issue with his Turkish counterpart.
“In the international arena, Turkey is a respected state, and I believe that, in the matter of settling the Karabakh issue, Ahmet will provide helpful initiatives,” he said.
