“It’s all the same, Armenians and Azerbaijanis want to be close with each other,” said well-known Armenian actor Armen Jigarkhanyan in an interview with Radio Liberty’s Caucasian Service.
“But sometimes there are things that seem they are of an elementary, everyday level, though they become a reason for disagreement,” he added.
Russia’s president had recently spoke about the possibility of forming a council to work on South Caucasus issues. Asked about the efficiency of the work of such bodies, Jigarkhanyan, however, said, “We haven’t yet matured for such councils, so that [we] can go to that councillor and present him with the solution to the issue.”
Jigarkhanyan considers the Armenia-Azerbaijan issue to be a very serious one and believes that it won’t be resolved easily. In the actor’s opinion, in resolving the Karabakh conflict, everything depends on how Armenia will approach that conflict.
