Due to strong winds and high temperatures, putting out the flames in Aktsuri village in Javakhq, Georgia, hasn’t been successful, reports Russian-language News-Georgia, quoting Georgia’s Natural Resources and Surrounding Environment press service.
“At this point, the situation is stable, while in a few days, it’ll be possible to completely avert the fire, if of course the heat doesn’t increase,” reads the report.
Currently on the scene are representatives of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Emergency Situations and specialists in preserving the surrounding environment who are working on a strict regime. There are also 500 residents participating in the work of distinguishing the flames.
Forests in the gorge began to burn a week ago, while due to strong winds over the vacation period resulted in new fires.
