Homeless Armenian Man Donates to Those Suffering Losses from Russia’s Wildfires

For the third day in a row, on August 11 from 11 am to 9 pm, MIASIN (“together”) youth movement members will sit around the tables near Aram Khachatryan’s statue in central Yerevan with the hopes of gathering donations for those who have suffered losses due to Russia’s wildfires.

As told to Epress.am by MIASIN coordinator Gevorg Vardanyan, they are working together with Young Russia and Our youth groups.

“We found out that a similar drive was being organized there, that they really need everyday items, clothes and so on: we decided to contribute our share and help the people who are our friends.”

Vardanyan noted that they weren’t even considering a monetary collection, but “an interesting thing happened.”

“An older homeless man approached us and — in 10 dram coins — gave us around 600 Armenian dram,” said the MIASIN coordinator.

On the first day, in a two-hour period, organizers gathered about 13,000 AMD in donations.
