Armenia’s Education Minister Supports Anti-Corruption Education, Thanks to Handbook

A trilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed in 2009 between the RA Ministry of Education and Science, National Institute of Education and “The Future is Yours” charitable, social NGO whose aim was to implement “Education Against Corruption” program with the support of the USAID Mobilizing Action Against Corruption (MAAC) Activity in Armenia. The plans included jointly developing the Education Against Corruption methodological handbook and organizing relevant training for teachers.

At the presentation of the newly published Education Against Corruption handbook today, RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan placed importance on raising the efficiency of public sector engagement. He welcomed the cooperation with USAID and noted that potential international involvement is very important for resolving local issues.

“This project aims to eliminate corruption in all educational institutions,” said Ashotyan.

Using the Education Against Corruption handbook, 880 senior-grade students and 74 teachers have participated in anti-corruption classes , which have been organized in 9 public schools.

The handbook, according to the press release, will promote organizing anti-corruption education during formal classes, as well as during informal periods such as extracurricular courses and activities.
