Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast says the United States and its allies encourage Iranophobia in the Middle East to sell their weapons, PressTV reports.
Mehmanparast said at his weekly press conference on Tuesday that Western countries were seeking to raise fear of Iran among regional countries to persuade them to pile up weapons.
“Iranian officials have repeatedly said that threats [against the countries] in the region are aimed at [creating] Islamophobia and Iranophobia and are invoked by the US and other Western countries as well as the Zionist regime … and the objective is to … provide conditions to sell their weapons,” he said.
The Iranian spokesperson further called on regional countries to remain vigilant and stand united in restoring security to the region.
