Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, in a recent interview with HayLur TV, discussed prospects of cooperation in Armenian-Russian railways and responded to public concern on South Caucasus Railways’ services.
In the PM’s words, Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin addressed this issue, stressing that Russia will fully implement its investment program in 2010, because during the past 2 years there was a small reduction of volume and the program wasn’t carried out as part of the concession investment.
“The Russian party assumed an obligation that in 2010, they would carry out the investment’s entire program. Attention will first be focused on the process of improving the fleet, so that our citizens feel that there’s real improvement. Of course, improving the quality of the routes is also important, as a result of which the passenger conveyance speed will increase, which is also very important. And third is the investment of a new management model, which will increase management efficiency so that there won’t be any issues with ticket sales, so that the train will be accessible for our citizens,” said Tigran Sargsyan.
