“Azerbaijan’s concern, connected with the temporary opening of the Armenia-Turkey border for NATO exercises, is understandable. However, it’s Armenia and Russia that should be really concerned,” said political analyst Rasim Musabekov. According to recent media reports, many Azerbaijani analysts have stated that it’s likely that this issue was discussed at the meeting of Azerbaijan’s and Turkey’s presidents.
If the border opens temporarily, Turkey’s armed forces will enter Armenia and it’s this fact that should be making Armenia and Russia nervous, said Musabekov. Azebaijan has already expressed its concerns to Turkey and all that’s left to do to wait, believes the analyst.
“I believe that we haven’t yet lost our trust in Turkey. Both Turkey’s prime minister and the president have promised that the border won’t open,” said Musabekov, reports Aze.az.
