Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today took part in a consultation with ministers, regional councillors and representatives of concerned state departments on improvements to the public school system.
Looking toward the start of a new school year, RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan introduced the process of implementing improvements, current issues and priority tasks in need of solutions. Ensuring unity in state policy in the area of education, improving the quality of education and increasing efficiency, among other issues, were discussed.
On the basis of the “Law of the Republic of Armenia on General Education,” an Armenian government decision stipulates that an internal and external evaluation mechanism will be implemented in secondary schools in the republic, which will provide the opportunity, on a principle of competition, to collect ratings of schools.
In the near future, there will be a certification procedure for teachers, while a certification process for school principals will begin by the end of the current year.
Summarizing the consultation and reinstating the importance of balanced development in the area, the Armenian PM stated that he would keep his attention particularly on the problems of community schools, according to a press release by the Armenian government.
