Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a recent TV broadcast, said he is against the request by the opposition Peace and Democracy party, reports Turkish news source Yeni Safak.
The opposition party, which has requested that Turkey recognize Kurdish independence, has been criticized by the country’s PM for requesting to place another flag next to the Turkish flag.
Erdogan said that there can be no other flag next to the Turkish flag.
“While we’re fighting terrorism near the country’s borders [in Yüksekova], they are attacking us in Ankara,” Erdogan was quoted as saying.
