If clashes break out in Nagorno-Karabakh, the 102 military base in Gyumri can intervene and separate the opponents, said Deputy Director of the Institute of the CIS Vladimir Zharikhin, in an interview with radio station Echo Moscow.
Zharikhin particularly drew attention to the fact that peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is secured not by peacekeepers, but by “the two countries’ good will.”
“In any case, so that the good will is present by the two sides, the existence of the military base is important and helps the process of the peaceful negotiations,” said the CIS expert.
