Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party (ASDP) Co-Chair Araz Alizadeh has called the reports that Turkey will be establishing a military base in Nakhchevan “bullshit.”
“According to the Constitution, in Azerbaijan, there’s no foreign military base and there can’t be. Let me remind you, Russia’s Gabala station serves both Russia’s and Azerbaijan’s interests and to put it bluntly, is not a military base. That fact can even be ignored, Turkey, being a NATO member, without an Alliance agreement, can’t deploy military bases outside of its borders. These reports are the result of Huseyinli’s [an Azerbaijani politician] imagination, and he has a very bright imagination,” said Alizadeh, reports Regnum.ru.
