Russian-Georgian Crisis can be Overcome: Saakashvili

The Russian-Georgian crisis can be overcome, said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in an interview with Echo Moscow recently.

In his words, in order to overcome the crisis, Moscow must at least free the occupied territories in Georgia, as well as provide the opportunity for those territories’ residents to make decisions independently.

“There are no Russophobes in Georgia, even though Russophobia is characteristic of those nations who have been attacked or occupied by Russia in the course of history. And though our case can be compared to the situation of the Baltic countries or the Eastern European states, however, we don’t have any hatred toward the Russian nation. I think that this is the cornerstone, which will enable us to form new relations,” said the Georgian leader.
