St. Petersburg police managed to arrest members of a multiethnic gang. At this time, seven members have been arrested, one is in hiding and wanted by the police, and two have been released. One of the gang members has been killed.
On August 17, a case was filed against these gang members based on Article 290 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code, which is brigandage (being a member of a “band” or gang). The opened case includes cases filed earlier, including murder, rape, stealing and so on.
The investigation data revealed that the criminal group was formed and headed by St. Petersburg resident, 30 year-old Viktor Ponomarenko and 27-year-old Azerbaijani Ramin Aliyev.
