Members of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences, academicians Vladimir Barkhudaryan, Gevorg Brutyan, Vilen Hakobyan and Adolf Mantasyan, today joined the collective legal action against an initiative that will see a huge cafe built over the existing Yerevan’s Student Park. There are currently 50 citizens who’ve joined the lawsuit.
According to the group “We are the owners of this city,” the court claim is ready to be presented to the RA Administrative Court.
The group’s claim, defined by the RA Constitution, laws and international treaties, is based on the violation of citizens’ rights to live in a healthy environment, to rest, to be informed of planned changes to the living environment and to participate in urban development programs and projects for consideration and in approving decisions.
