Armenia’s Road Police Prepare for September 1

Beginning tomorrow, traffic police in Armenia will be strictly monitoring all areas near schools during a 10-day period, said RA Traffic Police Road Patrol Service Division Chief Norik Sargsyan today.

Sargsyan advised all students and parents to cross the street at marked crossings and to follow pedestrian signals.

Sargsyan also admonished those (wealthy) parents who’ve made it a habit of driving their children to school in multiple cars and then loiter on the premises with their large vehicles. He urged those parents, upon dropping off their kids, to leave the school grounds immediately, promising that all those who violate this system will be subject to administrative procedures (such as being fined and so on) “without exception.”

The traffic police chief added that traffic police will also be in effect near universities and other post-secondary institutions. Sargsyan said, beginning tomorrow, his division staff will begin working half an hour earlier than usual, at 8 am.
