During this summer, the temperature fluctuated by 1—3 degrees from the norm; furthermore, Armenia has experienced the hottest consecutive ten days on record, when temperatures rose to 39–40 degrees Celsius, said Armenian Meteorological Service representative Zaruhi Petrosyan at a press conference today.
However, Petrosyan said, “This isn’t an unnatural heat wave for our region.”
The meteorologist also advised the public not to expect high temperatures in the coming days. According to Petrosyan, temperature highs of 35ºC are expected today, while on September 1 or 2, a high of 36ºC isn’t unlikely. However, she noted that in a number of websites, including the Russian search engine Yandex, the noted 39–40ºC is incorrect.
High temperatures aren’t expected in the first five days of September, said Petrosyan, and from September 7, the temperatures will drop in Armenia. No precipitation is forecast for the coming days.
Petrosyan added that usual temperatures are expected for the autumn, while precipitation will deviate only slightly from the norm.
