Even though Armenia says that the latest Armenia-Russia treaty obligates Russia to guarantee the security of Armenia’s borders and alludes to the fact that Russia will take Armenia’s side in the event of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resuming, we mustn’t constantly “sound the trumpet,” said political analyst Yervand Bozoyan, while speaking to journalists today.
“I wouldn’t want these comments to be made often, because if we compare Azerbaijani political analysts and politicians with Armenian political analysts and politicians, the idea that ‘Turkey will protect us’ is never heard from the Azerbaijani side,” he said.
In Bozoyan’s opinion, there’s a sort of inferiority complex at work on the Armenian side.
“The Armenian army is unequivocally stronger than the Azerbaijani [army]. Armenia in all cases — position, military, psychological — has the advantage and it’s not worth it… to constantly state that Russia must defend us,” said Bozoyan.
In the analyst’s opinion, Russia plays an important role “by neutralizing the Turkish threat” and that’s enough for “us to resolve the issues.”
