Hugs were Free in Yerevan Yesterday

Passers-by on Yerevan’s Northern Avenue yesterday became witnesses of an interesting event. A group of young people, having announced their intentions beforehand on the popular social networking site Facebook, were standing around with posters that read “Free Hugs!” in both Armenian and English; naturally, they were staging a public event in the Armenian capital that’s celebrated around the world as the Free Hugs Campaign.

The Free Hugs Campaign is a social movement involving individuals who offer hugs to strangers in public places. According to the official Free Hugs Campaign website, “Free Hugs is the real life controversial story of Juan Mann, a man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.”
